Hi all,
I want to work in GUI mode when I am working in remote login mode.
If I give startx it does not work. The machine I am using to login is
also a Linux machine.
Thanks in advance.
Kkrishna.

ssh -x, xdmcp, freenx, vnc, rdp

What is N here? This is important. If it's Linux, give the distro and
version#. If it's something else, do the same.

You mispelled "ssh -Y or ssh -X, depending". XDMCP will work, but it is
more of a pain to set up than other things. VNC will work, but it's
annoyingly laggy in many cases. Using FreeNX is the best solution if
you have a slow link anywhere in the chain. However, FreeNX can be a
pain to set up on many distros. I thought that RDP was only really
usable if the server was a 'Doze box, since the only RDP server
available for Linux was a proof-of-concept that piggybacked on VNC and
translated RFB into RDP.

Obviously.

Working fine here and was pretty straightforward. Of course there are
implications, also security wise, plus it doesn't fit to every use case.

Again it's just a piece of software and they don't document it for nothing.

An'I just RTFM to set it up'dreas

Which distribution? PCLinuxOS has a very good remote desktop utility.
Since PCLOS is/was based on Mandriva, Mandriva may also have it, and
possibly other KDE based distros.

In PCLOS, it is Rfbdrake.

Menu -> Internet -> Remote Access
