hi, i recently made some changes to my named setup and i'm starting to
get the occassional bounced mail to addresses that should work fine.
eg:

550 5.1.2 <amigo(a)profeda.com>... Host unknown (Name server:
mailstore1.secureserver.net.: no data known)

or

----- Transcript of session follows -----
550 5.1.2 <amiga(a)ramtron.com>... Host unknown (Name server:
ramtron.com.inbound30.mxlogicmx.net.: no data known)

does this ring any bells with anyone?

Sounds like you've got a problem with the changes you made to your DNS
server :)

how can i debug this? any tips would be most appreciated..

1) Look at the changes you made by comparing the originals to the
current files
2) See (1)

You've got an intermittent DNS failure, that may be related to the
changes you made. Without knowing what the configuration was before,
and what it is now, nobody can help.

Of course, you'd be better off consulting the experts at
comp.protocols.dns.bind than relying on me :)
