I currently use a Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS. I have a 12-channel Mackie mixer that I plug the instruments into 1st, then out into the sound card. I don't mind spending some cash if necessary. I was looking at the Line 6 UX8, and it looks pretty nice for recording and getting guitar sounds, but I need more than 8 inputs. I like to jam with my buds on Saturday night and we run a Roland TD-7 drum kit (I know...It's old) , 2 Pods (in stereo), 3 mics, bass, and I have an Alesis SR-16 for when the drummer gets tired. :-) So the tracks fill up fast! I like the convenience of just reaching for a fader on a mixer especially when jamming, but it would be cool to be able to record more than 8 channels on seperate tracks in Sonar. Maybe there's a way to have the best of both worlds and have hands-on operation, with recording flexibility? There are so many options, I would like to make an informed choice. Thanks for all your help. Cheers, John
