my laptop has a wlan chipset. suse detects, but could not install the
software. who knows how to solve?

With the prism54 chipset based wlan cards you need to install the
firmware file.

Download the latest from http://prism54.org/~mcgrof/firmware/
and rename it to /usr/lib/hotplug/firmware/isl3886

Let us know how you get on...

Oops. Apparently the isl3886 is the new 'unsupported' version.
Connexant have changed their chipset. See at this link -

You may have to try ndiswrapper.

there is a prism firmware download for suse 9.2 via yast online updates.

ndis does not work with knopix, suse 9.1 and suse 9.2
and suse update does not work
