It *was* 17mil+1. He put the power tap on his serial-parallel port
interface in upside down (well, he was looking at it over the back,
and it looked rightside up *to him*), fried it, and has harbored a
grudge against the C64 ever since.

The fact that you could buy a retro C64 joystick but not a retro
Sinclair joystick just brought back all that anger from the fetid
place that it had been festering all these years.
