From: Terence on 19 Dec 2007 17:17 If this is NOT the first time this happened, then you may have turned it off as a form of screen saver or by inhibiting the screen using the control panel. When you close down do you close down by "hibernation"?. If so, the screen is off till you hit the screen-on key combination again. I didn't know this was possible to be left that way, but I can turn off my Dell screen when I want to, but it comes back normally on power up. .. If when you boot, you hear the disc activating or hear any beeps, then the computer is working in part. If you have an infra-red mouse (one without a wheel, with a red light below it) and you see the light turn on and off, the computer is working in part and the operating system has loaded. If you have an emergency boot disc, try this. This should bring up the screen normally. If none of this woks, you have a screen problem. I thought the Compaq Presarios had the cpu inside the screen unit. But if the screen is separate form the cpu unit (e.g. a flat screen with cable to the cpu), you may have a loose or bad connector. Try gently tightening the screws If you know how to boot in DOS mode, do that. One way is to start the computer and hold F8 on until you see any text on the screen. If you don't see anything onscreen, take the computer back to where you bought it or last fixed it. Or try ringing a Compaq dealer.
