There is not enough memory to open this scene. Your document is not damaged and
may be safely saved. To increase...

I've been reading all the posts on this issue and everyone is saying that
these errors are caused by corrupted image files placed inside the .fla, but
the two files i have that are causing this error have NO image files in them
whatsoever. No jpegs, no PNGs, no external SWFs...

Im on a WinXP machine with 1 GIG + of RAM, no other apps open... tried opening
these on other computers with the same error...

and why is an old mac OS 9 related error still present in MX 04 ?

I'm under the gun to get these files open and recovered, any help is greatly
appreciated

If you have a working swf file that you made before the crash then you
can often recover a fla from it using swf Decompiler from sothink.com
The resultant fla may be a little different in some areas (some layers
collapsed into one layer) etc but it will usually run ok. You can also
copy all the various pieces over into a new fla. Unfortunately I
haven't heard of anyone fixing a damaged fla file so this may be your
only option other than to start over from scratch.
