Hi,
..
this is what I get when I try to get the type of machien I have
..
Sony Electronics
VCV046XEUM
Intel(R) 82815 Processor to AGP Controller - 1131
256 RAM
..
I need to upgrade my machine to have 512Mb or more of RAM.
..
How could I know what type of -compatible- RAm to buy? and where could
I reliably buy it?
..
Could memtest help me?

Vendors, such as PNY, have a utility on their website that can determine
what memory chip can be used in you PC or laptop.

It'll let you know if your ram is working.

I strongly suspect you have PC-100 or PC-133.

Download Everest or Aida32 to get MUCH better system info.

support EDO memory or buffered SDRAM memory."

Individual sticks up to 256MB, 512MB TOTAL supported.

The translation of the mystery quote is use Unbuffered PC-133, CL3.
