Hello,

If I want to un install a previous version of SONAR but keep the
goodies it put on (vsampler, effects and etc.) should I use the
un-installer located in the SONAR program group, or the un-installer
as found in Control Panel | Add Remove Programs?

AFAIK they are the same uninstaller.

With regards to previous versions of Sonar, I've only tried to remove
previous version one time (with intent of keeping plugs etc.) Not sure I
remember correctly how this went, it was awhile ago... I think I did not
have good luck doing this with either uninstall or with re-install and only
install the plugins, etc. Seems I always got the full install or didn't get
everything I wanted.

Perhaps someone who has done this more recently can give you better
information on how to do this.

Select the uninstall from your SONAR directory. Then, choose
"custom." Basically, you can pick and choose what you'd like to
uninstall.

Thanks Hal and Susan. I'll give the custom un-install a shot.

Are you short on drive space? If not, why uninstall your previous version
of Sonar at all? I always keep at least one previous version on hand in
case the newest one does something strange. Also, in case I work with
anyone who has the earlier version but not the current one. They all exist
in their own folders and don't affect each other--except if you migrated
your preferences, of course, in which case the new version will reference
the folders of the old, so that if you do uninstall, you will have to adjust
them.
