From: woger151 on 3 Jul 2008 09:25 Just bought a new house and had Verizon FiOS (TV, phone, internet) installed. Internet access is 5 down, 2 up. My wife's computer's internet connection works fine; it's hooked up to the Actiontec MI424WR router by ethernet cable. My machine (Microsoft XP SP2) is in the basement. I connect via a Linksys WMP54G v4. Verizon speedtest says I'm getting about 1.4 up (fine with me), but really crappy download speeds---on the order of 100 Kb/s. What's the likeliest cause of this? I dusted off a labtop this morning and tried connecting with that. It was even worse; couldn't download enough to get the speed test working before I had to leave for work this morning. (That card is 802.11b only, not g.) I also don't see any other networks in the Linksys wireless monitor interface.
