From: markm75 on 30 Nov 2007 10:06 We just had our old sc1420 dell server die.. with a series of beeps on bootup.. (i cant determine the exact order of the 6 beeps, but it appears to be system board failure).. Problem is.. we have tons of data (relatively speaking) on this server in a raid 5 array.. the size being about 250gb of data.. I'm guessing the answer is no.. but .. we have a 3ware card in this system and a different model 3ware in another server.. i was hoping i could just connect the drives to this other controller and they would show up.. but i'm guessing not? I'm not sure how to go about moving this data.. i'm guessing i'd need to move the card from the dead server to another as well? Thanks for any thoughts.

The correct answer is to restore your latest backup to the new server! You can try moving the card and drives to the new server, but if hardware is too different the OS may fail to boot. Mike.

That probably depends on whether 3ware maintained compatibility -- contact them and find out. Is there any reason you can't move that card? > > I'm not sure how to go about moving this data.. i'm guessing i'd need > to move the card from the dead server to another as well? > > Thanks for any thoughts. -- The e-mail address in our reply-to line is reversed in an attempt to minimize spam.
