Unless you have a highly specific reason to do so, UFS+ filesystems
generally need no such thing, as they tend to lay files down in a
reasonably optimal manner over time.

You don't need one. In case you're a recent convert from Windows, you
should know that you also don't need an antivirus, antispyware, and
especially you don't need anything with the name "Norton" attached to
it.

How the mighty have fallen. Wasn't Norton the company that had the
awesome utils for 16-bit Windows that let you hack directly on your
files as they lay on disk? Truly geek-inspired and necessary on that
crufty old system.

Yes. But the mighty didn't "fall". He just sold his name. You are
recalling the days when Norton really meant Peter Norton. Yes, he wrote
good, useful, and highly respected stuff. But he long ago sold his name
to Symantec. Though he got lots of money for selling his name, I don't
know if he got the better end of the deal. :-( The name Norton no longer
has anything at all to do with Peter Norton.
