It is the southbridge. However, if you are getting error messages, they could be coming from the northbridge, as the two work together. However however, if you are getting error messages related to I/O controller hub, it is unlikely that extra cooling will help that situation. More likely solution is updated chipset drivers for the mainboard, or a new mainboard. -Dave
