From: ray on 25 Nov 2005 06:52 of my Belkin F5D7330 ethernet wireless bridge? This is connected to my Cube and works well. Out of the box it has a default ip of 192.168.2.225. There is a simple web based interface for set up via a browser. Easy. But when DHCP is enabled, the cube now has an ip of 192.168.2.3 and I have lost access to the bridge set up. 192.168.2.225 no longer works. So how can I regain access to that interface, I want to enable security settings, without resetting the bridge to default? Plus, MAC addresses are confusing me. The Cubes ethernet port has a MAC address, I can see that in prefs, but the bridge must also have a MAC address. If I enable MAC address filtering on the router do I have to put both MAC addresses in the list? I'm guessing the answer is yes. Help greatly appreciated, thanks. -- to email me please go here http://www.dream-weaver.com/email.html iChat AV datasmog7

Turn DHCP off and switch to static IP addressing on the Cube and enter 192.168.2.3 as the IP and 255.255.255.0 as the network mask, with 192.168.2.225 as the default gateway. This should get your connection to the bridge back up and running. Check the DHCP Server settings though, it may be configured to use a network mask that's different to 255.255.255.0 - basically the .0 allows connections from any IP address to any other IP address within the 192.168.2.1 - 192.168.2.254 range. > Plus, MAC addresses are confusing me. Possibly not, as the connection will actually originate from the bridge so it may only need the MAC address of the bridge. Try that and if things only work properly after adding the MAC address of the Cube you have your answer :)

I had to go back to square one, reset the bridge to default and enable 128 bit WEP [1] encryption on the router and then the bridge before enabling DHCP again. [1] The Belkin F5D7330 ethernet / wireless bridge does not support WPA. Thanks anyway. -- to email me please go here http://www.dream-weaver.com/email.html iChat AV datasmog7
