From: spinndiva on 3 Jul 2008 15:07 when opening word, there's a back slash (\) on screen, how can it permanently go away.
From: JoAnn Paules on 3 Jul 2008 15:12 If it's on your screen, try a gentle cleaner and a soft cloth. If it's in your blank Word document, http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/AppErrors/BlankDocNotBlank.htm -- JoAnn Paules MVP Microsoft [Publisher] Tech Editor for "Microsoft Publisher 2007 For Dummies" "spinndiva" <spinndiva(a)discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:85242FA1-F58A-4D48-A529-AE3D0C7C711D(a)microsoft.com... > when opening word, there's a back slash (\) on screen, how can it > permanently > go away.

From: Suzanne S. Barnhill on 3 Jul 2008 16:37 The article is still applicable (just not updated for Word 2007 yet), but the template you need to deal with is named Normal.dotm, and you can find it in the folder listed for User Templates at Office Button | Word Options | Trust Center | Trust Center Settings... | Trusted Locations. But I'm wondering if what you're seeing might not be just the paragraph mark at the end of the default empty paragraph. Try clicking the button in the Paragraph group of the Home tab that has the symbol on it. -- Suzanne S.
