From: EH on 2 Nov 2006 22:18 I had never worked with video in sonar before, but I started adding some sound effect tracks to some home videos and its really cool. Question, if I import a video file ( an MPEG file ) and then want to import another MPEG file to start at the end of the first, how do I do that? I thought I could just go to the end and hit import again ( like working with audio only ) but it asks me if I want to replace the existing video. If I say no, it aborts. If I say yes, I lose the first imported clip. Must be something simple I am missing here, surely you can import two video clip files that can start one of the another in a single sonar project file. Right? Thanks, Eric
From: Sue Morton on 2 Nov 2006 22:36 I haven't tried video, so just guessing -- can you import the new video to another (new) track, then move the clip where you want it? -- Sue Morton "EH" <ehenneke(a)sbcglobal.net> wrote in message news:fyy2h.366$Mw.13(a)newssvr11.news.prodigy.com... >I had never worked with video in sonar before, but I started adding some > sound effect tracks to some home videos and its really cool. > > Question, if I import a video file ( an MPEG file ) and then want to > import > another MPEG file to start at the end of the first, how do I do that? > > I thought I could just go to the end and hit import again ( like working > with audio only ) but it asks me if I want to replace the existing video. > If I say no, it aborts. From: Rick Paul on 3 Nov 2006 02:07 Yeah, I think Glennbo is correct here -- SONAR only supports one video at a time due to the lack of any video mixing. Thus, the way to do this is to splice the two videos together, or, better yet, mix them ahead of times with fades or other transitions, so you get the video looking how you'll want it in your final version, then bring it into SONAR for scoring and SFX. However, you don't necessarily have to be limited to using a low quality video in SONAR. You can use the full thing (if your system has enough horsepower, of course), and then can mix the soundtrack with the video right from SONAR, as long as SONAR has the codecs you'll be needing for the final output. From: EH on 3 Nov 2006 08:15 thanks Sue, Glennbo and Rick! This seems to be what I am seeing. I can load a high quality video in, but no way to load more than one file. Any suggestions on a good (free!) utility to merge two AVI files together without any quality loss? (It's already on your machine). Output quality, as always, is dependent upon the format/settings you choose when saving. Give it a shot, it just might do the trick. |
