Running Windows XP sp2. I recently purchased a new Canon digital
camera. The software included a program called ZoomBrowzerEX.
Initially, I had one helluva time installing this software. I think
it may have been conflicting with an earlier version of ZoomBrowser
that I installed a couple of years ago when I added a Canon printer.

Anyway, Canon support assisted me in getting the software installled.
Now, however, when I start this program, as it initializes, an error
message appears that reads: "Error: Another user currently has
ZoomBrowser EX running. Please switch back to the other user and
close the other running copy of ZoomBrowser EX"

I have been in almost constant contact with Canon support for the last
week and they've basically thrown up their hands. Told me I should
contact Microsoft. Yeah... right.

Anything you think I should check?

I've uninstalled it. Reinstalled it. Checked all other user accounts
to ensure that it is not running. Created an additional account and
installed it from that user.

Any tips would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Mark

I have ZB running okay. I installed 'my' (orig) version from my camera disk
and then updated it with v3.2 - which I'd previously downloaded & used on
win98. I don't know that this is necessary but I thought it prudent. Yours
really ought to work (perhaps you've a new version still). IFAIK the
updates are only really necessary for newer camera models and affect little
else.

I do know that people can have all kinds of problems with new canon printers
(I don't own one) and the uninstall and install afresh is usually the (only)
answer (beyond my belief really as the very manufacture who's software is
causing the problem who wrote it and is fully aware of it)!

The only other thing I can add is to try again but ensure you reboot (fully)
after each step (uninstall/upgrade etc) - on win98 machines this can
certainly help, unsure if xp suffers the same hangups (or has new ones)?

A fresh install on ZB may go better if after you've uninstalled it you go
through your machine and rip out any canon/ZB directories, misc program
files and that dreaded index file (on mine, in a root). Of course, use your
main (if admin) or an admin a/c to do all of this.

HTH.
