My Dell Dimension 9150 worked well yesterday but today when I turn it on
it freeze during the POST, the status bar under the Dell logo on screen
go up to 95% more or less, emit a constant beep and the Diagnotic Lights
1 and 4 light up.

I unplugged the keyboard, mouse, HD, DVD, monitor and video card and I
still get this error.

Any idea?
Thanks

unfortunately the dell service manual does not detail the error message
for lights one and four being lit. it could indicate motherborad
failure like for other models or it could just be a memory issue.
removing components as you have done was the right thing to try and i
can only suggest that you try the following: remove and replace the
memory modules, remove and replace the video card (if not integrated),
remove and replace the other cards, inspect the usb ports for physical
damage, and finally remove the power cord then remove the cmos coin cell
battery from the system board hold the power button for ten seconds and
wait 10 minutes before reinserting the cmos coin battery and power cord.
let us know what happens.

Chris and William fixed my 9150 by buying a new CR3032 (I think) CMOS
battery, and replace the old one, check for battery failure in the event
logs if you can get into the BIOS setup, pull all the memory and blow the
slots out with compressed air, reseat all the memory, the slots don't
matter, but I think they may be matched, e.g. 1-3, 2-4 or 1-2, 3-4. My 9150
only had two sticks of memory, with two open slots. I think we got a bad
batch of CMOS batteries, and if the memory slots are left open they get dust
and cause a short of some kind. The experts here will chime in if I am
wrong. But, that is all it took to get mine back running, and still running
ever since. Pat
