Meanwhile I have bought the V100 - but it does not work :-(

So, you have iscan and xsane running and working with the V100? Then
there is hope for me :-)

I have to admit that I do not have mandrake, but ubuntu.
But I thought this should not matter. It seems, it does...

Anyway, I have installed iscan-2.3.0 (selfbuilt from
iscan-2.3.0-1.c2.tar.gz) and sane-1.0.17

There is /opt/iscan-2.3.0/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.15 and
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.17

The scanner hardware is found bei the usb subsystem:

root(a)diaspora:~# lsusb | grep Epson
Bus 005 Device 004: ID 04b8:012d Seiko Epson Corp.

root(a)diaspora:~# grep Scanner /sys/bus/usb/devices/*/product
/sys/bus/usb/devices/5-8/product:EPSON Scanner

root(a)diaspora:~# scanimage -L
device `epkowa:libusb:005:004' is a Epson flatbed scanner

I can run xsane, but when I try to get a preview I get:
"Failed to start scanner: invalid argument."

And when running iscan I get:
"Could not send command to scanner.
Check the scanner's status."

(I have had to add "usb 0x04b8 0x012d" to /etc/sane.d/epkowa.conf to get
xsane and iscan running at all)

I have installed sane-1.0.18 and

iscan-2.3.0-1.c2
/usr/lib/libesmod.so
/usr/lib/libesmod.so.1
/usr/lib/libesmod.so.1.1.0
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.la
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1
/usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.15

iscan-plugin-gt-s600
/usr/lib/iscan/libesint66.so
/usr/lib/iscan/libesint66.so.2
/usr/lib/iscan/libesint66.so.2.0.0

Maaybe this is the problem, just make sure the system is using
/opt/iscan-2.3.0/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.15, maybe jou should
just delete /usr/lib/sane/libsane-epkowa.so.1.0.17, I don't have this
lib on my system. Maybe it's necessary to do a "ldconfig
/opt/iscan-2.3.0/lib/sane"

I had the same error ("Failed to start scanner: invalid argument") some
days ago, but after a reboot everything worked fine.

From "man sane-epkowa":
BUGS: Sometimes the scanner is not initialized correctly. The problem
can be resolved by killing the program and restarting it again.

I don't have "usb 0x04b8 0x012d" in epkowa.conf, just "usb".
