Grey line down the page

From: Bill on 12 Feb 2010 14:03 I've been using this Xerox Docuprint P 12 for years and have collected spare toner cartridge assemblies when they have been available. I believe it's similar to a LaserJet II. It has started printing a grey line about1/2inch wide down every page, so the question is should I unwrap and install one of my hugely (to me anyway) expensive toner cartridges in the hope that that will cure the problem, or is it likely to be a fault somewhere else in the machine. If it's the latter I can put the unopened toner on ebay or somewhere. I've tried wiping the slider thing across the toner assembly, but that hasn't helped. Is there anything else to try? -- Bill
