Hi All,

I have two terminal servers. A 2003 (32 bit) and a 2008 sp2
(32bit).

The 03 logs you in in about 2 to 3 seconds. The 08 logs you
in in about 2 to 5 minutes. And the CPU max's at between
97% and 100% while the users are logging in.

Is this normal for 08 TS? How long does your 08 take
to log users in? And, what does your CPU usage go to while
they are logging in?

Many thanks,
-T

p.s. my uses are really, really angry. :'(

Hi,

No, it is not normal.
Check what is causing this. Logon as administrator and monitor processes
while users are logging in.
Also try to recreate one user's profile and see if it improves the situation.

Thanks,

Kudrat

Yes, I also suspect a problem with loading the user profile.
You don't mix 2003 and 2008 profiles, do you?

Hi Vera and Kudrat,

I reposted my findings under the title "TS08 works great under
two cores but crashes with eight". It has to do with the
number of cores. I would really appreicate you guys input
on the matter. Would you guys mind browsing over to the new
posting?

It is probably an issue with your virtualization software rather
than Windows 2008 server.
I have seen issues as well when configuring many cores, even with
Windows 2003. Maybe it is not a good idea to do that.
