I just bought a Sony Xperia X1 running Windows Mobile 6.1. I can retrieve
emails from our Exchange server 2007 through ActiveSync of my connected PC.
However, I always get error "Cannot find server..." when I try to recieve
emails through WiFi. What is the issue?

If you are retrieving e-mails via ActiveSync on your PC, you are not
retrieving mail from the Exchange server, but rather from Outlook on the PC.
To retrieve mail from the server itself you have to configure ActiveSync on
the device itself to interface with the server, providing server name, user
credentials on the device. You can run both PC ActiveSync and Server
ActiveSync at the same time, but you cannot retrieve the same items from
both locations. You could set Mail, Contacts, Calendar to come from the
Server, and other items like tasks, notes to come from Outlook. Things like
files can of course only come from the PC.

When hooked up via USB, Exchange ActiveSync on the device talks directly to
the server, which needs to be set up to support this. It bypasses ActiveSync
on the desktop and just connects over the network.

All that was to get to the point that ActiveSync on the desktop does not
support syncing via a WiFi connection. Exchange ActiveSync set up on the
device does, though of course only those things Exchange supports and you
have selected to sync that way.

If you are in fact using Exchange ActiveSync, it would appear that the
device cannot find the server you have designated, over WiFi. That would be
a network problem of some sort possibly in the way your Access Point is set
up. If you are actually using Exchange ActiveSync, server name and your
credentials set up on the device under ActiveSync, post back with a little
more about how the network is set up. If you have a network administrator,
get him involved.
