After installation of an app (vmware server 2), I can no longer get to
the boot screen. I have to boot into safe mode without networking. In
safe mode, I cannot uninstall anything.

I get Fatal error cx000021a. Yes, I've read and tried the KB on this
issue many times to no avail.

If I could just uninstall vmware from within safe mode all would be
well.

You write "I can no longer get to the boot screen" and "In safe mode, I
cannot uninstall anything", without telling us what happens when you try.
Remember - we cannot see your screen! So:
- What exactly happens when you attempt to boot normally?
- What happens when you attempt to uninstall things in Safe Mode?
- Have you tried System Restore?

When I boot, I get a bluescreen with the 0xc000021a error right before
the login screen is to come up.

When I try to uninstall in Safe Mode it won't let me. It says that
Windows Install Process will not run in safe mode.

I got things back to normal though. VMWare has their own version of
msgina.dll, called vmgina.dll. I did some renaming and copying so that
msgina would be used. Then rebooted and all was back to normal. I
did a full uninstall of VMWare Server 2. I think Server 2 does not
like all the security we are required to have on our laptops at work so
it didn't get things setup right or something (although it said
successful login).

Anyway, it is fixed now. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback. Replacements for msgina.dll have a reputation for
causing Windows problems, which I suspect you worked out for yourself.
