You cannot import the account information, as that is stored in the registry, which is not easily accessible. So you need to search for *.dbx (the files are hidden) on the old drive and then when you find the directory of dbx files, then go to File | Import | Messages in OE and point to that directory. That will get the messages back, but you will have to set up the accounts anew.

Ok, but if I could access the registry is there a way to get the account

Thanks for the advice. All messages duly imported. Account settings will
have to follow!!

I can see the whole HDD. All system files the lot. It would really help to
at least be able to see what accounts were being picked up in the original
OE6. It was being used to pickup multiple email accounts.

Can you open OE on the old HDD? If you can, go to Tools | Accounts and
export each account as an iaf file. get them on the new HDD and import
them.

Hadn't thought of that, but will the fact that the path to the files is
different matter? The HDD from the original PC was drive c: Its now hooked
up to another PC through a usb2 IDE adaptor and is being seen as drive f:
