Are there any tweaks that can be carried out in Windows XP that will
increase the speed of the Internet connection, broadband or dial up?

Thanks

The term "Increase" probably doesn't apply, but maybe "Optimize" your
connection settings does. There are Registry settings that affect how the
PC handles data packets. In most cases, the defaults are sufficient. But,
you can modify them with a program called TCP Optimizer that handles
the Registry changes automatically, based on your connection type. The
program was just recently updated.

It would be a good idea to read through the FAQ on the product before
attempting any changes to your system.

Hi Paul,

Your "speed limit" is not determined by WinXP, it's determined by your host
and line conditions. No tweaking will change this.

Have you checked your speed. If not, go to;
http://www.dslreports.com/tools

Do the Speed Test and then also the Tweak test. If your are using Broadband,
it's likely that you will need to tweak the RWIN setting.

Test your speed without using "Java":

[You can make web pages load faster by disabling some visual functions under
Multimedia, on the Advanced tab of Internet Options. Check Google for -
Speed up IE.]
