I am buying a new Dell soon and want to get Windows 7 Professional. Is
it easy to go into XP mode?

It's easy once you know how to do it.

At the risk of actually answering your question...

It it's the same procedure as the beta package, you need to download 2
supporting modules from MS. IMHO, it's a PITA and a kludge of the first
order. I had an olde Umax scanner that I tried in Win 7 XP mode and it
worked okay, but then it worked just as well under Vista running in XP
compatibility mode.

Very problematic....

Check this site for more info:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtual-pc/download.aspx

The bad news is that your pc must support some sort of special
virtualization mode and even worse not even all new computers have it.
On my one year old m1530, I can turn it on an off in my BIOS. But in
my brand new optiplex 360, it is not available. So you should check on
that capability for your new pc, before you order. Also even with the
virtualization capability, not everything is guaranteed to work in
virtual xp mode.

Thank you all for taking the time to reply.

I am not overly worried about having XP Mode. I was just concerned
about my Fujifilm software working on it, as it is about five years old.
But am I right in thinking my memory card which has all my photos be
recognised on Windows 7 ok? I have purchased my new PC yesterday...
