From: JSH on
I've talked about Google searches that pull in my research highly, but
I'm more interested now in the web searches that pull in a hate page
against me on Crank.net, which is a website of Erik Max Francis, whom
I encountered on the sci.math newsgroup years ago.

It elicited howls of glee on that newsgroup when he put the page up
against me, and years later I'm beginning to see that the posters of
that group were probably right and this one person has an amazingly
powerful negative impact on you.

Today I have various ideas which I think are important across a lot of
areas and I'm here to tell you: no progress.

While I'd been optimistic about hit data from around the world, better
analytics software showing me what users are actually doing on my math
blog and how they got there is discouraging. And more importantly, oh
yeah, looks like last year I DID maybe, um, solve the factoring
problem.

Actually I have 3 probably good basic research results which when
properly developed could allow VERY rapid of factoring of VERY large
numbers in polynomial time, which is probably one of the biggest
advances in number theory, oh, ever.

And I can't get anywhere with it!!!

If that turns out to be true that I DID get these finds over a year
ago and people finally realize what's going on then I'm going to be
presenting the case that Erik Max Francis may by himself be a lot of
the reason for why the world did not pick up the research--or even
notice it existed!!!

I call it a social transistor effect. Like with transistors you can
control a LOT of current with a small one. Negatives like what Erik
Max Francis put up, can have an awesome power in our connected world.

He may be able to completely shut people down even if they are
right!!!

Way wacky, way fascinating. If that is true then the "herd" mentality
of human beings can reach impressive limits which can only be seen in
this case because of absolute mathematical proof.

There is wisdom in crowds then. Crowds can be super-stupid. MOST of
the people following along in the wrong direction.

3 ways that can potentially solve one of the big problems in number
theory--factoring.

All mostly ignored. We're at one year plus now.

And I am fascinated by my Google Group ratings as well!!! I have a 1
star rating with over 8000 ratings given.

Fascinating.

I picked the factoring problem because it has real world impact. Of
course "Uncle Al" can request that I factor a large number.

I will not. I cannot. I have basic research which indicates a way
can be found. I haven't implemented anything.

Again I liken taunts for me to factor a large number to asking Albert
Einstein to build an atomic bomb--and explode as well.

AFTER ALL if relativity is correct, why couldn't Einstein build an
atomic bomb to prove it? Right?

Of course his ideas and that of others DID get picked up which is why
people finally DID develop atomic weaponry.

Here is a fascinating case where for the moment it appears the
knowledge is just sitting out there.

Despite the potential energy wrapped up in its use.

And I'm blaming a social transistor effect.

I posted on sci.crypt and waited until someone said it worked before
coming back to make these postings.

Don't you get it?

I want maximum impact including reminding about people like you, Erik
Max Francis and of course, "Uncle Al" as later ISP's will be forced to
give up your identities and hopefully some people will out you
completely.

I want the world to see your faces, ask you questions and find out why
you have done what you have done.

It is nearly time.

Your moment on the world stage is nearly here.

Hey, "Uncle Al", better get prettified, maybe get a haircut? You're
about to be on camera, soon.

quite playing with yourself and go factor in the corner, 1,111 until you get
it right.
you can ID me already just google my IP and you can get street address, and
use google maps to see your house.
That is what I did to you, and you were in the doorway looking out
Try it!
better than flakes faking factoring finally

He has a pretty accurate report on you.

You think your ideas are important but they are mixtures of useless
and wrong.

Except, of course, you cannot actually factor anything useful.

That is because it is useless. Even you cannot factor anything useful
with it. Therefore it is a joke.

Paranoia is not a way to get work done. He actually gives you a
lot of publicity.

Yes, we can see your nonsense collected there.

So you have done nothing.

Well, you are wrong on that too.

It is more like asking Einstein to make a prediction which could
be tested by experiment. Oh wait, he did that and it checked out.

You have not found any knowledge yet.

Why not look at the truth? You have done nothing and even
just above you admit you cannot factor anything useful.
What do you think you have done?

But what if that's not true?

Anyone who does a search on solving quadratic residues in Google or
Yahoo! will get pages on my math blog highlighting research which
increasingly appears to be ONE solution of 3 possible I have that may
solve the factoring problem.

But if they do a search on my name, they will get a Crank.net page
listing me as a crackpot.

Search: solving quadratic residues
Search: james harris

Some posters claim I'm just getting search results I like! Well I
don't like Erik Max Francis's page!!!

And also now I'm taking over Yahoo! with the result as well.

It is a result that may solve the factoring problem!!! It is
gaining!!!

What if Erik Max Francis is wrong, but his page is helping to hide a
solution to the factoring problem because the web amplifies negatives
in a social transistor effect?

Then RSA public keys might be factored easily enough by someone who
advances my research, while I am still stuck in arguments on Usenet.
Not because I'm wrong, but because the Internet magnifies negatives
over positives.

But how long can that last? I don't know. History has some really
weird stories, so it could take a while.

It is possible that security professionals faced with active exploits
that mathematicians tell them are impossible given accepted
mathematics will simply rationalize them and claim "human error".

That can happen INDEFINITELY until enough exploits occur that the
system collapses, as human denial can go on far beyond reason.

So Erik Max Francis, and you, along with other hostile Usenet posters
can be helping to end civilization as we know it, or with less
hyperbole, crash the current Internet.

What may die when it's all said and done is the first version of the
Internet.

Which may go down in flames on a wave of massive human stupidity on a
worldwide scale, but lead by people in the United States and the
United Kingdom.

And the United Kingdom may go bankrupt as a secondary impact.
