I bought my first joystick to my C64 yesterday: a Cheetah The Bug. It
seems to work but I'm a bit puzzled since it has two connectors and an
on/off switch. How am I supposed to connect these and what is the on/off
switch used for? It has one black and one gray connector. When I
connected the black connector to Control Port 2 the joystick worked (in
a helicopter game). It seemed to work regardless of the position of the
on/off switch. I couldn't find information about this using Google.

On my joystick, he could be used for autofire.

First of all, the gray (grey) connector is for use with Spectrum
computers, where the pin connections are different. Don't use the gray
(grey) connector with your C64!

The on-off switch is for autofire, setting it on and holding down a
fire button will give rapid fire. For games where you have to hold
down the fire button (e.g. Creatures) you will need to make sure it is
switched off.
