From: dessie on 15 May 2010 09:13 I recently put on my laptop but the screen is dull like the power is low but when i use the power supply it stays dull but it says its charging, but the percentage never rises. When i take out the power lead the screen brightens up like it is fully charged, but i get a message saying to use the power supply as the battery is low. I do this then the screen is dull again. Any one any ideas. p/s iused a different power supply but still the same problem.

From: Chuck on 15 May 2010 18:57 Some laptops have power options that change the display brightness. If some of the options get reversed, the bright dim display illumination might also be reversed. That aside, it sounds like the internal laptop power supply is going bad. Bad capacitors can cause this sort of problem if the external power supply has poor filtering or output voltage problems under load. In turn, this can be caused by an internal laptop power supply problem. Not only is it not holding the charge it is wasting(shorting) power from the supply. This could be a serious problem Li-Ion batteries have been known to explode. Or you could just have a fire. Damage to the computer and/or charger are likely even if the more exciting prospects don't develope. Replace The battery. Don't use the computer with that battery in it. Can't say for sure that its completely safe to do so but it'd be better to use the supply alone until replacement. Good Luck
