I'm seeing applesmc.c in the mix, but just
verified that they are not the cause.
(git reset --hard origin).

Now I just noticed there is already a bug
filed and a patch:
https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id= 15749

I did try this patch out and yes it does fix the
boot hang, and Oops.

Presumably acpi_ex_extract_from_field() fed zero into (the misnamed)
ACPI_ROUND_UP_TO().
