If you look at Panasonic raw output on the G1 and GH1 (don't know
about the GF1) you'll see it is very neutral. Colours are reserved
and the output is more professional looking (akin to higher-end
DSLR's) than cameras in the same price ballpark. But this seems to
rub migrators from P&S's the wrong way, most of whom are used to the
more vibrant (some would say garish) colours from the average P&S.
I'm wondering if maybe Panasonic should have as a default when the
camera is first started a strong colour JPEG mode so the less
discerning types won't be upset? If you look at the JPEG default from
entry-level Nikon's you'll see what P&S'rs really like.
