I've been seeing update problems also, although the product does always
eventually update.
I have a second partition running a copy of winxp and I installed MS
Essentials for evaluation.
It doesn't seem to slow things down although it does seem to use more
memory. It supposedly handles spyware so any thoughts on this product I
would you stay with Avira.
