Greetings; I am using XP and Works Suite 2003.
I have made a spread sheet listing a number of items. Instead of starting at
#1 it starts at #6. I realise I did it, but how can I change the numbering so
it is numerically correct? I want it to start at #1. Thanks very much.
James

I don't have that particular spreadsheet application, but many
speadsheets have a similar "Fill" function for that process. You could
probably find a description using the "Help contents" item on the
application's "Help" menu.

Try this procedure and PLEASE report back whether it works:

Enter a 1 in the first cell of your list

Enter a 2 in the cell immediately below

Highlight both cells

Keeping your mouse pointer in the same column, drag the little black
square on the lower right corner of the highlighted area downward
however many lines you want to be numbered

Thanks RobertVA. In this one I can't highlight a cell number, or I don't know
how. When I try to highlight it does nothing to the number but highlights the
complete cell.

You should get an answer at the Works newsgroup from the Works gurus.

While you can click inside an empty cell to enter a new value, you might
have to click a cell that already contains data then edit the content in
an edit bar between the tool bar and the main content pane. If the first
character is a letter the data type will be text. If the first character
is a number (or + -), the type will be some type of numeric. Entering an
equals sign will start the process of entering a formula.

Click inside a cell to select it. If you select a single cell its
content will be duplicated in the edit bar above the main content frame.
If the cell contains a formula, the result of the formula will be
displayed in the cell, but the formula will appear in the edit bar.

To select multiple cells press the mouse button while pointing to a cell
at one end of the range and hold it down (drag it) while moving it to
the cell at the other end of the range you want to select (the opposite
corner). Multiple cell selections (ranges) can be part of a column, part
of a row or a rectangle of cells.

Fills will be completed based on the mathematical relationship between
the two selected cells. If the two cells contain consecutive numbers
(1,2), the fill will be cosecutive (1,2,3,4). If alternating numbers
(2,4) the fill should be alternating (2,4,6,8). If dates (Jan 5, 2010;
Jan 19, 2010 two weeks apart) the fill should work with dates (Jan 5,
2010; Jan 19, 2010; Feb 2, 2010; Feb 16, 2010 each at two week intervals).
