Vodafone Pay-as-you-talk offer this. The defunct easyMobile did. Not
sure about others.

I wish i'd bought one of those Cellnet PUFFL, but at the time i was
using and stockpiling Orange 15 month Boxed and Readys
i was buying at around 30quid each from Currys/Dixons

Which was working fine until FT Orange cancelled B&Rs in 2004
without warning, making my last half dozen worthless and refused
to pay any compensation, typical fecking FT Orange.

They were each worth 11.75 a month for 15 months against
another Orange Tariff, i used them to give me 11.75 a month
off 15 per month EveryDay 50.

But this is where I become stuck because for calling other networks it
is 40ppm IIRC

That's a shame too. Someone said they would have to actively block it.
I guess they do to force you to upgrade to a "modern" tariff. I don't
use mms much at all but internet is useful for directory enquiries
rather than paying 118 to call a 118 number!

I thought of that too but my exchange is not unbundled and int he
middle of nowhere, I don't think it will be any time soon ;(

Do you mean for use at the time or for use now? The problems I find
are the expensive cross-network calls and lack of internet make me
wonder whether to look for something new.

I would have kept it just for calling O2 and landlines.
Some callthroughs have landline access numbers, so it could be
used cheaply to call cross net too.
