Currently the index crawl on my typical sharepoint farm (2 web front
ends, 1 index server, 2 database servers) is hung. It says "Last
completed crawl: 5/7/10" which is almost 3 weeks ago.

I did some searching on the web (in these discussion groups as well)
for "sharepoint index crawl stopped/hung/stuck/etc" and found one
thread that seemed relevant here:
http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.sharepoint.portalserver/browse_thread/thread/169313d8373f2f5d

However, running those stsadm commands, while they seemed to be
successful, didn't change the GUI on the sharepoint farm, it still
believes it is doing a full crawl for the last ~470 hours. I've tried
rebooting the server, resetting the services, iisreset, etc, etc. All
of the typical things that you would think might cure the situation.
None of it has worked.

Any more ideas on where to go from here? There isn't much that is
particularly noteworthy about this farm... it's mostly stock. We have
one custom app on it, the pdf ifilter, and maybe a minor tweak or two
here, but otherwise it's a really basic install.

Thanks for any responses, and I'm more than willing to provide more
data as needed. The servers are Windows 08 R2 x64.

Made this post right before vacation, I'll bump it once to see if
anyone has some thoughts.
