You can't filter rows. You can transpose your worksheet using
pastespecial to switch rows and columns. There is no problems doing
this with 2007 but witth 2003 you are limited to 256 columns. so if
your original worksheet has less than 256 row with 2003 you can tranpose
the sheett, otherwise, you can't.

Pivot Tables can be viewed as a horizontal filter. They are easy to
set up - see the help.
