Hi,

For the 3rd time in a month I had a lot of 'spurious interrupts' on a 2821
with a HWIC-1ADSL running on IOS 12.4(11)T Advanced Enterprise Services:

Jan 25 10:01:08: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:01:08: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-IRQSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI: Spurious
IRQ1 interrupt 0 happened.
Jan 25 10:01:40: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:02:01: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-IRQSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI: Spurious
IRQ1 interrupt 0 happened.
Jan 25 10:02:11: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:02:33: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-IRQSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI: Spurious
IRQ1 interrupt 0 happened.
Jan 25 10:02:43: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:03:05: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-IRQSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI: Spurious
IRQ1 interrupt 0 happened.
Jan 25 10:03:15: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:03:47: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:04:19: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.
Jan 25 10:04:19: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-IRQSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI: Spurious
IRQ1 interrupt 0 happened.
Jan 25 10:04:51: %HWIC_ADSL_BRI-7-NETSPURIOUSEVENT: HWIC_ADSL_BRI 1:
Spurious network interrupt 0 happened, mask 3FF.

After this the router is completely unreachable. When I reset the router
everything is OK again for a week or so.
The only information I can find on the cisco website about this
errormessages is that this are debug-messages only, and that no action is
required:
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6441/products_system_message_guide_chapter09186a0080632f18.html#wp1011392

Any ideas? Can it be a bug in the IOS (HWIC-1ADSL is only supported in the
T-train), or is the HWIC-1ADSL module the problem?

Thanks in advance!
Roel Koops

If everyting is working I would believe the documents.

You don't actually have adebug enabled do you?

Sorry pressed wrong button.

If everyting is working I would believe the documents.

You don't actually have a debug enabled do you?

Level 7 is the least significant message type. Very often
cisco do know what they are doing.

I don't believe "no action required" if the router is unreachable ;-)

No, there's no debug enabled in the last 2 months.

Sorry, did not read the whole mesage carefully. On usenet
you get more than you pay for:-)

In that case it sounds like a bug.

TAC or if you don't have that try different software.

You could try stripping out non-essential config items and
manually allocating buffers to reduce or eliminate failures
and missed buffers, but you will have to be very lucky to
fix it that way.

If you want buffer sugegstions post

sh buffers

also check for general overload, what is the CPU?
are there any drops, ignores, throttles?
