Is there any way to insert subtotals (without jumping through hoops like
inserting rows and labeling them) into an Excel 2007 "Table"? When attempt
is made, the option is grayed out on the Data tab.

Any help (and/or workarounds) is appreciated!

Hi,

You cannot do so. You will have to convert the table back to a range and
then use Data > Subtotal
