This also worked for me but only lasts for a while then I am back to unable to browse the network error. Any other suggestions ?

I used to have the same problem until I read your post. Your solution actually make sense. That is, your "Computer Browser" service was disabled somehow before. But by reinstalling the "Client for MS Network", you enabled the "Computer Browser" service, which is why you can now browse the network.

Thanks.

Unable to browse the network
Hello,

If I go to 'My Network Places' and click 'Entire Network', I get the
following error:

Unable to browse the network.
The network is not present or not started.

I am also not able to access any shares, same error. I am able to use the
internet and ping any (local) machine. I've looked around for this error but
haven't been able to find a solution for my situation. Somehow this problem
got introduced into my system, don't know how or when. Any advice?

"net view" output looks alright, it gives me a list of all available
computers.

Output of "browstat status":
