Music maybe? Data does not have a duration along with it. I'd start by checking to see how high the fragmentation is, and if it's over 50% definitely do a defrag of the disk. Give a better description of the problem and get a better answer.

Something has slowed down the burn rate.

I saw this happen with a USB card reader. For some reason Windows decided to revert to USB 1.1 drivers across the board on the USB bus. Once I reinstalled the USB drivers all was well and fast.
