The main thing I want is the ability to easily add a simple product
key. I seem to remember it could do that like the setup wizard in
VS2008 can.

Hm I thought id found that with my Google Searches as that's how I got
setup1.exe but this time setup2.exe worked.

Not in any way that was usable :)

When I last played with it, I could add the dialogs but there was no way
of running any form of code to use the inputed data.

In Inno, it "just works" (with a bit of code to use it :)
