From: Jonathan on 7 Jul 2010 13:00 I have a DAW running Sonar Producer 8.5, and I'd like to install an effective antivirus application that can be disabled and re-enabled quickly, so I can easily disable it while I'm running Sonar, but turn it back on when I'm doing other things on the computer (like connecting to the internet). Any recommendations? Thanks, Jonathan

What's the catch? :) Do you think it's a viable replacement for McAffee?

I've been using the free version of Avira Antivir for the past year or so. It seems quite light on system resource usage compared to most of the other ones I've tried. It is easy to temporarily disable, just right-click on the system tray icon. The one thing that might be a problem is that it pops up an ad banner every time it retrieves its virus definition updates. I have that set to do it automatically once per day, but you can change that interval or even disable the auto updates entirely and do them manually.

I'm gonna try it!

I go to Trend's site once a week and do an online scan. I use MSE on the other systems. You hardly know it's there. |
