'visible' where? If you mean on the internet generally, you'll need a
static IP address from your provider or set up something like dyndns. If
only on a local net, then you'd probably only need to set the firewall
parameters appropriately.

no problem with that, in a RFC1918 network just fine, but please not in
the public

Even if he seriously mis-configured his webserver I can't see how that
would affect anyone outside of his friend circle....
