I again am having issues with an SMB share accessed via an VPN.
Whenever I want to copy, it takes a long time for the copy to even
start. Somwtimes I have to wait minutes for the copy progress meter to
show up, and then it stays in mode 'preparing to copy' for more minutes.
The actual copy then is not really fast but progresses reasonably.

I suspect that it is syncing local and remote directory and access info
etc, but why is that so slow?

Is there anything I can tune (have tuned) on either the Samba server or
my mac?
