We would like to set up Access XP to use SourceSafe but can't find the
Office XP Developer Extensions on MSDN subscriber downloads.

It's been a long time since I looked for the XP Developer Extensions on MSDN
downloads, but I seem to remember they were not under the Office tree. Try
looking through other possible locations, maybe something for development,
if the search feature doesn't find them.

I downloaded and installed the Microsoft Access Source Code Control

Component and the SourceSafe menu now appears on the Tools menu in

Access. This allows me to add a database to SourceSafe (which just

creates a SourceSafe project) but I can't do anything else with it! All

the buttons on the Source Code Control toolbar are still disabled. Does

anyone know where I can find a guide to setting up Access XP with

SourceSafe? All the information I've seen so far has been unclear and

convoluted. E.g. do I need to install a Visual Studio 6 service pack? If

so where, on the client or server? Do I need to have Visual Studio 6

installed to do this? Do I need to reinstall SourceSafe after I've installed
the Access component?

I thought the separate Source Code Control Component was for Access 2003,
not XP, but I'm not sure. For Access XP there is a separate Office XP
Developer installation, not just the source code control component. I still
have a leftover menu folder in the Start menu for Office XP Developer. If
you don't have that in your Start menu, maybe it's not the correct tool? You
could also look in the SourceSafe Administration tool and make sure your
login account is listed as a user. And I think your user account needs
access permissions to the SourceSafe data folder.

We can't find the Office XP Developer Extensions download so we're stuck! It
doesn't appear to be available anymore!!!!

We already use SourceSafe with VS.NET 2003 and the user accounts are set up
and work fine.
