I just downloaded Avast yesterday and my PC has been running like back in the
dial-up days! This version has an orange ball with an A inside, my previous
one was blue and never slowed down anything. Did I set something wrong? I
feel like getting rid of it!
Thanks in advance for any help.

Is this plain antivirus or an "Internet security suite" ?

If the latter, expect slowdown.

Works OK for me. Try turning off some of the unnecessary sevices, like
the email scanner and the P2P scanner.
