At last, finally, my new iMac should be delivered by JL, next Wednesday.
Woo-hoo!

I've asked in the past about being able to assign a double click to one
of the buttons; it would really make using it much better. I was pointed
at BetterTouchTool. Is this still the dog's bollocks, mousewise?

I'm still very fond of it, enough not to look for alternatives.

I'm also not convinced that its auto-update function works - mine's been
stuck on 0.424 for ages now. I suppose it could just be a problem with
0.424's auto-update...

I'd check but I like 0.424.

..577 currently. But if it's not broke (for you) don't mess with it.

The weird thing is I -swear- I upgraded it beyond that at one point.

Obviously I can't have...surely...
