Is there an easy way to block internet access for a computer on my
local network? (If it matters, it's wired 100 GB ethernet). I want
that conmputer to still have full local network access.

The internet access for the local computers is through a Cradlepoint
MBR1000 router with a Sierra Wireless (3G) modem for access to AT&T 3G
service.

Cancel that request, I guess. I think I found a way to block the IP
address of the computer in my Cradlepoint setup options. I guess that
will work so long as the IP address assigned by the router doesn't
change.... I'm not sure how that works... but I'll watch things for a
while and see if it does what i want.

Your router enables you to block the machine's access to the WAN by MAC
or IP. You should use MAC if the machines on the network are getting
their IP dynamically, because the target machine's IP address can change.

This is handled in Access control - see p. 36 of the above .pdf manual.

Mike,

Thanks for that info... I'll change my settings accordingly.

I'm not sure about the Cradlepoint (I want one of those, just don't
have it yet), but many routers allow you to assign a specific IP
address to that MAC. It's easier to maintain than static addressing.
