PIC sanity test
I have a Microchip PICkit 2 programmer that I've successfully used to program 16F88 and 16F688 devices in their DIP versions, using no other hardware except a breadboard, by simply connecting the Vpp, Vdd, Vss, ICSPDAT, and ICSPCLK pins of the PK2 to the corresponding pins on the PIC. I have just made a breakout ... 10 Dec 2007 01:52

TL499A boost converter question
Hi, For the TL499A: http://focus.ti.com/docs/prod/folders/print/tl499a.html Is it possible to use this IC from a 1V to 30V input if the two inputs pin1 "series IN1" and pin3 "SW reg in2" are tied together? I have a working boost circuit from 1V to 30V input using the LT1073: http://www.linear.com/pc/pr... 10 Nov 2007 19:52
Tek LCD screen failure
Hi: It figures that with all the Tek TDS3000 series scopes I've been using at work for the past 8 years, that the TDS3014 I bought and paid for with my own money at home would have the LCD screen fail! Tek wants $1300 to fix it. There is a TDS3VM VGA output adapter for the thing. It can be had for $200. ... 28 Oct 2007 15:41
LTspice
Does LTspice have a potentiometer component? I'd like to do transient analysis sweeps, as a function of pot rotation. I can't find this. Any other way to simulate the function? I really need the varying resistances, so I can't just use a multiplier. John ... 6 Oct 2007 11:01

Large Led display
I have a Netbrite led display but it looks like it requires some very expensive software to operate. I was wondering if there was a way I could get it working without the software. Below is a link to whats left of the web site. It has a built in ethernet connection, which works and allows me to telnet in to ... 27 Aug 2007 12:54
Avalanche Pulse Generator: Chassified

A 2N3904 is a fast epitaxial transistor, and in my limited experience, epitaxials tend to not make decent avalanche pulses. Yeah, but like I said, I tested these in a different enviro... 25 Aug 2007 04:07
The Electric Car
Is it not about time that we saw more hi spec electric cars on our roads. I saw the Tesla Roadster and it outperforms a Ferarri on acceleration but what of teh charging time. Can we now re-charge in say 10 mins? The overnight charge is impractable unless the car is to be used for short distances from home. http:... 10 Nov 2007 09:17
