Is there yet a way to install E8 beta without it superceeding E7.1? I'd
like to give it a workout (E8 beta) but, as some of you know, I had to
uninstall it to keep my E7.1 as a default email client. Thanks..........

E8 and E7 have nothing in common, so both can be used together.

"Default mail client" has little significance;
you can always use whatever program you want for anything,
at expense of just another click or two.

John, this is Bob. I thought we agreed that somehow, E8 became my
default email client after I installed it and the only way I could get E7
to work was to specifically open it. After I uninstalled E8, E7 was
again my default email client. Maybe I'm explaining it wrong - but I
think the developers of E8 should know what happened to me. I'd like to
experiment with E8 and set it up the way I like (IF I like it) before I
switch over to it. In the meantime, I want to continue having E7 open
with my wife's data when she clicks on the E-mail 'tab' at the top of any
folder containing photos. With E8 installed, E8 opens when that tab is
clicked. Right now, all is fine (E7 works the way I want) - but I
haven't reinstalled E8.

I didn't challenge that one installation obscured the other's
being considered the "default email client,"
but this doesn't in any other way cause any conflict
between using E8 and E7 on the same computer.

You didn't define "superseding" in your lead-off post in this thread,
so its meaning could be mistaken by readers, if not clarified.

You are stymied by the fact that your wife won't accept any way
to overcome the lesser issue of "default email client,"
and also that you won't use separate Windows (7) logins,
which would enable each of you to have different settings and defaults,
but not everyone else has these limitations, and should not think
that they can't use both clients in parallel.

You might also be able to re-set "default email client"
after installing E8, if you would search for info
or ask in Windows forums, where such information
might be more likely known, since details are not turning up here.

I wonder, did you ever try installing E8 followed by installing E7,
to see whether E7 would re-override E8?

Even if that doesn't pan out, I suspect it would be more profitable
to ask Windows 7 specialists than to keep repeating the question here,
much as it's easier to get an air ticket at an airport
than to keep asking at a railroad station :)

If you want developers to do anything about the conflict between
"Eudora" and "Eudora," Bugzilla is the way to get attention and action --
when, after all, was the last time you ever saw a Eudora developer post here?

"Bugzilla gets action!"

Now that's an idea!!! I'll have to try that.

OK, so that's the way I'll go - Bugzilla!!!!!!!!!

Thanks, John for 'setting me straight.' I'm a stubborn old man.......
